Thanks for visiting the Horton Guitars website!

I handbuild all of my guitars one at a time, by myself, in my small shop in Mississippi. I work on guitars part time and have a regular full time job to pay the bills. I find that it works out best this way and helps to keep the guitar making enjoyable and more stress free. I can take my time and go the extra mile to make sure each one is the best that it can be.

I have stopped taking custom orders for a while. I am still making guitars, just not taking custom orders at this time. Lately the custom orders have been a bit too overwhelming and  extremely time consuming. I'm looking to spend a little more time in the shop building guitars and playing them, and little less time searching for certain types of woods/materials and discussing plans and options specific to one guitar. For the next several months I'll be doing some experimenting and working on a few ideas. After that I'll start building some to sell again. If you are interested in getting one email me and I'll let you know what is currently available. Some of the guitars will probably be listed on my site on the "for sale" page, and others will be in music stores, and occasionally probably an ebay listing. On the bright side, it will result in lower pricing for buyers. I'll be leaving my custom ordering page up because I'm not sure how long the hold will be on the custom orders. Maybe a while, or maybe just a short time, time will tell I guess. At any rate, still feel free to email and inquire if you want something custom or have an idea for something. Once again, thank you for your interest in my guitars.

My Horton has become my number 1 and does not cease to amaze me with it's great playability and fantastic tone.  The guitar was a gift to me from my wife and her brother last year. The instrument was purchased in Nashville after a week of trying multiple instruments. I kept going back to the Horton because of it's incredible tone and playability. The instrument has been everything I have ever wanted in an acoustic guitar and more. I am preparing to record with this guitar in the near future and I can't wait for the results.
Colby's guitars are really great!

I think that Colby is one of the up and coming Luthiers of our day!  His guitars have consistently impressed me and others.
